Two more Kentucky Country Day athletes  – quarterback Robert Scholtz and receiver Khaleel Wilson – have committed to play college football, coach Matt Jones said.

Quarterback Robert Scholtz has accepted a preferred walk-on offer to the University of Kentucky, according to Jones.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound player who has long been considered an NCAA Division I prospect completed 90 of 161 throws for 1,663 yards and 27 touchdowns with seven interceptions as a senior for KCD (11-2). He was 128 of 249 passing for 2,385 yards and 32 TD with just five interceptions as a junior and and had 2,867 passing yards and 30 touchdowns in 2010.

Wilson, meanwhile, will play for NCAA Division III Tufts University in Medford, Mass.

Wilson, KCD’s all-time leading receiver, caught 28 passes for 342 yards and four touchdowns as a senior. He had 44 receptions for 609 yards and seven TDs as a junior and 51 catches for 620 yards and four scores as a sophomore.

“Both of these young men and outstanding students and outstanding football players, and we are very excited for them,” Jones wrote in an email.

Scholtz and KCD kicker David Holtgrave, who has accepted a preferred walk-on spot at Vanderbilt, will be the school’s first players to play in the Southeastern Conference.
